Our Services
Advanced Psychology is a warm and welcoming clinic that offers various evidence-based psychological assessments and therapies.
Choosing a practitioner with broad experience who draws up a warm, professional, neuro-affirmative and evidence-based approach is essential to ensure you receive the right treatment or therapy.
We offer both face-to-face and telehealth appointments for most consultations and therapy sessions. We also offer telehealth for other services, such as for Adult Autism and/or Adult ADHD Assessments.
Booking Process
All new clients are booked in for an initial 50-minutes consultation. This will either be for an adult or the parents of a child who is having the assessment or looking for therapy.
Psychologists are ethically obligated to ensure clients are not subjected to undue testing and we only conduct assessments if they are necessary. As such, an initial consultation with preliminary screening is undertaken to ensure a full assessment is warranted.
At the end of the initial consultation, the psychologist will advise whether they recommend proceeding with the assessment. If not, they will provide recommendations to assist the client with their presenting concerns.
All assessments come with a comprehensive written report. Final feedback sessions to discuss the report are highly recommended in order to offer an in depth explanation of findings and to answer any questions.
Learning Assessment

Specific Learning Disorder Assessment (Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, Dyscalculia) A comprehensive learning assessment explores an individual’s current academic performance and can identify whether a person meets the criteria for a diagnosis of a Specific Learning Disorder (SLD) in Reading, Written Expression and/or Maths. Cognitive assessments help to understand a person’s strengths and weaknesses in areas such as verbal understanding, visual-spatial skills, problem-solving, auditory memory and speed of learning. Educational assessments provide information on an individual’s oral language, reading, spelling, written expression and numeracy skills. The phonological processing skills are also explored. A detailed report with individualised recommendations, containing a brief background history, educational history and detailed interpretation and explanation of results. The assessments are conducted on the day and take approximately 5 hours. The report takes your psychologist approximately 5-10 hours and is sent within four weeks. Our fees reflect the amount of time the psychologist spent on the assessment and the report.
ADHD Assessment

Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurodiversity that affects an individual’s ability to pay attention. Individuals with the inattentive component have difficulty with maintaining concentration, remaining organised, and may be easily distracted. Individuals with the hyperactive/impulsive component can have trouble sitting still, waiting their turn, and often need to fidget or talk. A comprehensive ADHD assessment explores whether an individual meets the criteria for a diagnosis and whether they exhibit a predominantly inattentive, hyperactive/impulsive, or combined presentation. Semi-structured Interviews to identify ADHD symptoms and discriminate with other disorders. In-depth exploration in form of a clinical interview. Cognitive assessments help to understand a person’s strengths and weaknesses in areas such as verbal understanding, visual-spatial skills, problem-solving, auditory memory and speed of learning. Assessment of Executive Functioning and Attentiveness/Regulation. Screeners are chosen specifically to pick up on ADHD symptoms and potential co-occurring conditions.
Autism Assessment

Autism is neurodiversity where an individual often has sensitivities to sensory stimuli, has restricted interests and can engage in repetitive patterns of behaviours. Social interaction may also be challenging. A comprehensive assessment identifies whether an individual meets the criteria for a diagnosis, as well as taking the time to explore and understand how the individual experiences their world. The report may be used for NDIS funding. Semi-structured Interviews to identify Autism symptoms and discriminate with other disorders. In-depth exploration in form of a clinical interview/clinical observation. Cognitive assessments help to understand a person’s strengths and weaknesses in areas such as verbal understanding, visual-spatial skills, problem-solving, auditory memory and speed of learning. Assessment of Autism Symptoms, Adaptive Functioning and Behaviour. Screeners are chosen specifically to pick up on Autism symptoms and potential co-occurring conditions. Kindergarten/School Observation. Applicable for children in Kindergarten and Primary School.
